From Ignorance to Involvement: How a Hoodie Opened My Eyes to ALS
When we first embarked on our journey with Ranger, collaborating with various causes was part of the plan. We didn't want to just work on causes but we were all so intrinsically focused on supporting elements of the community that don’t necessarily make products to market. Nothing prepared us for the partnership with the ALS community. I knew very little about ALS, apart from it being a neurodegenerative disease, until Ranger was approached to design a fundraising hoodie for this cause.
Creating a hoodie might seem like a small task. It wasn't going to make anyone rich, and it was not going to be a demanding use of our time. It became so much more than a design project. As we delved into the details, learning about the challenges faced by those living with ALS, I was both humbled and moved. The stories of resilience and the community's unwavering support for one another were nothing short of inspiring. A very cool relationship started between Ranger and The ALS Society of Alberta.
The ALS Society of Alberta is dedicated to supporting individuals and families affected by ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis). They provide invaluable services such as offering support groups, equipment loans, and education about the disease. Additionally, they focus on increasing awareness, raising funds for research, and advocating for those living with ALS to improve their quality of life. They play a crucial role in both community support and advancing the search for a cure.
This project became a huge eye-opener for me, prompting a deeper understanding of ALS and its impact. It was just the beginning of forming some great relationships with passionate advocates, patients, and their families.
What started as a simple design project evolved into a personal mission. It wasn't just about creating a product—it was about creating awareness, fostering connections, and contributing to a meaningful cause. Ranger's collaboration with the ALS community instilled a sense of purpose, reminding us that behind every initiative, no matter how small, lies the potential for significant impact.
At Ranger, our journey with various causes has been nothing short of transformative. Each project unfolds as more than just an opportunity to contribute—it becomes a profound lesson in empathy and resilience, led by extraordinary individuals who embody these qualities. Every cause we support introduces us to a rare kind of human spirit. It's not just about the challenges they face but how they respond—with unwavering hope, strength, and an inspiring capacity for love and support. These individuals and communities open our eyes to the depth of human compassion and fortitude. Our work ranges across diverse areas, yet the common thread is clear: these causes amplify voices and stories of tenacious, empathetic humans. Whether it's about raising awareness, designing initiatives, or fostering connections, we witness firsthand the incredible power of resilience and community action. It's a privilege for us at Ranger to partner with people who continuously redefine what it means to be strong, empathetic, and unyielding in the face of adversity. These collaborations not only enhance our understanding but also fuel our passion to drive meaningful change. Together, we're inspired to create projects that reflect the remarkable stories and strengths of those we are honoured to support. Who knew that this hoodie project would also lead to the Rangers handing out hotdogs at a very cool event… but that is another story.
